A quick introduction: I am singer-songwriter from Hamburg/Germany, and right now I am working on my third album, which is hopefully going to be released in Canada as well. Live I usually play with my spectacular cellist Michael Becker, who is also going to join me for NXNE.
What attracted you to music? My father used to own a music shop in the little town that I grew up in, so I kinda grew into the whole music scene. I pretty much started singing as an infant and started teaching myself the guitar at the age of ten. Playing music was just always a natural thing for me to do.
What are your sources of inspiration? I think transition is a very important source of my inspiration. It takes both sides for me to be inspired – the dark and the light.
What would your dream gig be? I would love to play a concert with a big orchestra one day – maybe in an old, big theater.
What are your thoughts about the NXNE platform? For me it’s a great opportunity to introduce myself as a musician to a canadian crowd and to get to know some people for potential future projects over here.
Interesting points others don’t know about you? To be honest, I don’t have a clue when it comes to music theory. I always have to ask my cellist, which key my songs are in, and which chords I am actually playing. My theory is though, that (when it comes to songwriting) it sometimes helps not knowing everything, since you don’t care so much about musical boundaries then- but maybe that’s just a lazy excuse;-)
