We had a unique opportunity at TIFF 2015 to chat with actress Clémence Poésy about her independent British film The Ones Below, written and directed by David Farr.
The film marks the directorial debut of David Farr, a well established British playwright and theatre director. It tells the story of Kate (Clémence Poésy) and her husband Justin (Stephen Campbell Moore), a couple living in the London suburbs who are expecting their first child. They find common ground when Jon (David Morrissey) and Teresa (Laura Birn) move into the apartment downstairs after the passing of the previous tenant as they too are expecting their first child. With the perfect ice-breaker on the table, the two couples decide to befriend one another over dinner. What was supposed to be a night of bonding takes an incredibly twisted turn.
Clémence Poésy is well known for her up-close character portrayals, something we see again in her role as Kate in The Ones Below. Born and raised in France, Poésy can be recognized in a number of great productions, my favourite being her portrayal of Chloë in the Oscar-nominated film In Bruges. Some will also know her from her portrayal of Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter series of films.
Enjoy the interview!
