Telefilm Canada and Maison Birks collaborate together to honour, celebrate and recognize 10 outstanding female leaders in the world of film and television. Scheduled during the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, the Maison Birks Diamond Tribute red carpet event took place at the Maison Birks store on 55 Bloor Street West, with many of Canada’s prominent artists in attendance.
Being honourned this year are directors Louise Archambault, Deepa Mehta, Alanis Obomsawin, Sarah Polley and Chloé Robichaud, and actresses Évelyne Brochu, Geneviève Bujold, Sarah Gadon, Jessica Paré and Alison Pill.
The honourees were chosen by a panel of well known journalists and professionals within the arts community. They included Maxime Demers (Le Journal de Montréal), Manon Dumais (Voir), Noreen Flanagan (Elle Canada), Peter Howell (Toronto Star), Brian Johnson (Maclean’s), Bruce Kirkland (Toronto Sun), Marc-André Lussier (La Presse), Katherine Monk (Postmedia), Andrea Nemetz (The Chronicle Herald), Tamy Emma Pepin (Citytv), Odile Tremblay (Le Devoir) and Marni Weisz (Cineplex Magazine).
The inaugural event was attended by many Canadian artists including Katie Boland, Liane Balaban, Paul Haggis, Atom Egoyan, Zoie Palmer, Paula Brancati, Michael Seater, Anna Hopkins and many more. Check out all the photos from the red carpet event below.
