A quick introduction: JoJo Worthington is an independent artist from Waterloo ON, known for her avid songwriting and dynamic use of the ukulele. By using reverbs, loops, delays and sometimes, even distortion, JoJo introduces a sound never been heard on the ukulele. Her whimsical and joyous melodies create an atmospheric and euphoric experience to each audience, and is someone you don’t want to miss during Canadian Music Week.

What got you into music? My mother was a huge influence and encourager of music in my family. She urged me to take various music lessons when I was younger, and eventually I fell in love with it. I first omitted this love through musical theatre, and later on in songwriting.

What are your sources of inspiration? Classical music is a huge influence in all of my work. But I am also really inspired by artists Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent and Jesus.

Dream gig? If I could perform with any above said artists, that would be awesome.

Your thoughts on Canadian Music Week? There are A LOT of bands to go see, but it is a great way to get inspired and connect with other music lovers.

Interesting points others don’t know about you? Sometimes my pink hair throws people off, but believe it or not, I was actually born with black hair, not pink.
