Year it all began: 2010
A quick introduction: I am a 16 year old singer/songwriter from Australia. I am in the final year of high school. For the past 2 years I have been a regular visitor to Los Angeles working with various song writers and producers. In February 2013 I released my debut EP Beginnings which was received well in the UK, USA and Australia. Building on this positive attention that Beginnings had received, I released my next single Move in September 2013. Move has been my most successful track to date with radio play across Australia and on College radio in the USA.
What got you into music? Looking at the signs in my childhood, I was always destined for music, but when I sung a Christmas carol at the age of 11 my parents were quite taken back by my voice. I started vocal lessons and got a guitar for my 12th birthday.
What are your sources of inspiration? Travelling to Los Angeles regularly inspires me as I am surrounded by like minded people. Different situations in my life that trigger strong emotions are definitely an inspiration for my song writing.
Dream gig? I think that most artists would agree that Madison square gardens would be the dream gig. Although performing to smaller audiences is something I love doing as it is so intimate when they can approach and talk to me and its fun to connect with everyone in the room.
Your thoughts on Canadian Music Week? Very excited to be a part of CMW. I am the only artist from Brisbane in Australia and I feel honoured to have the opportunity to represent my home city.
Interesting points others don’t know about you?
- I have never been to Canada.
- I have an unhealthy obsession with romantic comedies and watch at least one a week accompanied by Ben and Jerry’s ice cream (is that too much information?)
- I have always been crazy about animals and feel very passionate about animal cruelty. I am that person that will always interrupt your morning walk to pat your dog.
