Talk about a Kill Bill moment. Toronto was graced by legendary director Quentin Tarantino for the Toronto Red Carpet Premiere of his latest film, Django Unchained.
The film marks Tarantino’s first directing project since 2009’s Inglourious Basterds starring Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, among many others. Django Unchained, by the same token, boasts a pretty stellar cast. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Jonah Hill, Kerry Washington & Zoe Bell, to name a few. That is a pretty ridiculous cast line-up!
Django Unchained follows a slave by the name of Django (Jamie Foxx) who is given his freedom by a former dentist, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), who in turn trains him to become a deputy bounty hunter. Django has other plans on his mind. With the help of his new mentor, he sets out to rescue his wife from Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.
Tarantino was in Toronto to attend the red carpet premiere of the film that took place at the Scotiabank Theatre on Monday, December 10th. The event was packed with die-hard Tarantino fans, all there to support Tarantino’s last work.
The Arts Scene’s contributing photographers Steve Murakami and Glenn Hicks were on scene to capture every moment of the evening. With someone as classy as Tarantino in attendance, it was an evening worth capturing! Check out all the photos in the gallery below!
