Brett Dalton discusses Ward on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was that one show that no one saw coming back in 2013. When Clark Gregg‘s fan favourite character Phil Coulson gets seriously injured in The Avengers, and subsequently dies, people were quite upset. He was a cool character that deserved more screen time. That is precisely what Joss Whedon – one of the creators of the show – did in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., giving life to a whole new set of activities that would run in parallel to Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and be an extension of the greater MCU story. Brett Dalton has been a part of the show since season one, taking on the role of Agent Grant Ward, a complex character who has dramatically evolved throughout the seasons.

About Brett

Born in San Jose, California, Dalton has been involved with acting since his high school days. After getting two degrees – one from UC Berkeley and the other from Yale University – Dalton dived right into the world of acting, starting with shorts and TV appearances, before landing his gig on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Grant Ward.

Dalton’s character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been a major catalyst – among other things – to help the story progress and grow. Starting off as one of the good guys, then jumping on the Hydra ship, to then becoming Hive, his character has seen dramatic changes that have helped both the show and the development of other characters.

The Interview

We had a chance to sit down with Dalton at the 2017 Toronto ComiCon to discuss his character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., whats happening next on the show, and where he’d really like to see the character go down the road.
