Steven Spielberg will make his TIFF debut with ‘The Fabelmans’ World Premiere

Now here’s an exciting piece of news.

The legend that is Steven Spielberg will make his Toronto International Film Festival debut with his coming coming-of-age story The Fabelmans. The film chronicles the journey of a young man, exploring his childhood, and how a family secret will shatter the foundation of what he believes in. The film’s story has been dubbed an “exploration of the power of movies to help us see the truth about each other and ourselves”.

The feature rocks an all-star cast of Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle, Jeannie Berlin, Julia Butters, Robin Bartlett, Chloe East, Keeley Karsten and Judd Hirsch. Its a remarkable cast, and we cannot wait to see how their talents bring out the story of The Fabelmans on the big screen.

What is fascinating is that the film has inspiration taken from Spielberg’s own childhood, making this a personal and deep exploration of ones life. In addition to directing, the film’s story has been written by him and his long-time collaborator Tony Kushner. Both them of are set to producer the film, in addition to Kristie Macosko Krieger.

It goes without saying, Steven Spielberg has had a paramount impact on the film industry, creating a portfolio of work that will challenge and conquer the test of time. With The Fabelmans, I feel we are going to see a very personal side of Spielberg that we haven’t seen before, and TIFF is probably the best venue to showcase such a story. This world premiere is quite exciting, and we hope we get a chance to sit down with Spielberg and the rest of the talent to discuss all aspects of this film.

Other films announced by TIFF so far include Michael Grandage’s The Policeman, Gina Prince-Bythewood’s The Woman King, Nicholas Stoller’s Bros, Sanaa Lathan’s On the Come Up, Clement Virgo’s Brother and Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
