By February 28, 2015 No Comments

Rookie Blue head writer and executive producer Tassie Cameron took home the Margaret Collier Award at the second Industry Gala during the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards.

Cameron has contributed to many television shows and films over the span of her career. In addition to working a number of years in New York and with HBO Television, Cameron has contributed to shows such as Degrassi: The Next Generation and Flashpoint. Rookie Blue has been her most coveted project to date, a show that has garnered award nominations from the Directors Guild of Canada and the Gemini’s.

Her educational background is as vast as her experience. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Toronto, a Master’s in film from New York University, and is also a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre. In addition to pursuing academics, she is involved within the field as well as a teacher.

We had a chance to catch up with her after she received her award, chit chatting about the significance of the award for women within the industry, and what advice she would give to young, up-and-coming artists.
