The Arts Scene had the pleasure of covering the red carpet Canadian Premiere of Iron Man 3 with Don Cheadle – Col. James Rhodes AKA Rhodey AKA War Machine – in attendance.
Iron Man 3 continues Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) story, picking up after the aftermath in New York, where The Avengers left off. A haunted Tony Stark confines himself to his tech lab, building new suits and gadgets to take his mind off the fact that he cannot sleep and is generally distressed. When a new threat emerges in the form of the Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley), Tony’s every move dictates the fate of humanity and those closest to him. This new thrill ride, directed by Shane Black, introduces audiences to a Tony Stark we haven’t seen yet.
Don Cheadle stepped into the role of Col. James Rhodes in Iron Man 2, replacing Terrence Howard. He reprises his role in the Shane Black directed sequel, stepping into the shoes of the Iron Patriot. Cheadle is known for his Academy Award nominated performance in 2004’s Hotel Rwanda. His other notable films include starring in the Ocean’s Trilogy, Swordfish, Crash, Traitor, Rush Hour 2 and Brooklyn’s Finest.
