Now, the last time we saw Jackman don the claws was in James Mangold’s 2017 film Logan, which has been touted as a fantastic conclusion to the Wolverine storyline. Jackman him self has said countless times that Logan was his final appearance as claw-bearing mutant, and that he was finally putting the role to rest.
However, this new announcement has got fans going completely bonkers.
Naturally, people have tons of questions and both Reynolds and Jackman have tried to address that with a follow-up video that, in true Reynolds-and-Jackman-teaser-fashion that is just making us loose our minds even more!

What do we think about all of this?
Unless they get teased and introduced somewhere else beforehand (which highly possible given how the MCU works), Deadpool 3 will see the MCU debut of both Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as MCU debuts for both actors, making the third installment of the franchise a major stepping stone for the MCU.
Personally, I think this announcement is simply to make the fans happy. Both Reynolds and Jackman have shared superb on and off screen banter about Deadpool and Wolverine over the past few years, and I think a Wolverine and Deadpool team up was something that fans wanted for a long-time. As many media outlets have already identified, both Wolverine and Deadpool are also members of the Avengers, meaning that a post-Deadpool 3 team-up would be a dream come true for many loyal Marvel fans. Plus, with their links to the Weapon X program, it opens up a world of other possibilities as well.
However, I personally think Deadpool 3 is going to be a one-off for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. With the introduction of the multiverse, I think we will see Jackman’s Wolverine play a major part in the third installment, but by ways of giving Deadpool a solid story narrative and not really bringing Jackman back into the MCU for a long-term stay. I could be totally wrong, but having played the character for so many years, Jackman may just want to do this for the fans as a one-time thing. He is after all always going to be the OG Wolverine.
I think it would be nostalgic to bring back original characters as part of the multiverse. Patrick Stewart as Professor X in Multiverse of Madness was a welcomed sight. Maybe this is an opportunity to do it for Wolverine.
What else we’d love to see in Deadpool 3?
I think revisiting the X-Force would be something pretty cool for third installment. Bringing in Wolverine is fantastic way to bridge that gap. I hope in addition to Jackman as Wolverine we see the return of Cable (Josh Brolin) and a few other staple X-Force characters.
Anyone else notice Reynolds wearing a black suit during his first video? Notice the resemblance to the Uncanny X-Force grey suits? Maybe?
While it takes time to build up teams, especially as mutants get slowly introduced into the MCU, I think an X-Force movie or team-up is inevitable.
Of course, we can easily get carried away with all this speculation. As we have come to realize with the MCU, anything and everything is possible.
One thing is for sure with this announcement: fans around the world are currently loosing their minds!
