The Company Theatre returns this year with Amy Herzog’s Belleville. We sit down with artists Christine Horne and Allan Hawco to discuss the show, their characters and a whole lot more.
Belleville follows an American couple – Zack (Allan Hawco) and Abby (Christine Horne) – as they live their life in the promising neighbourhood of Belleville, Paris. This very-much-in-love couple seem to have their life in order, with Zach even pursuing a noble cause through his work at Doctors Without Borders. Unfortunately, when Abby finds Zach at home one day, when he was supposed to be at work, the chain of events that follow rock their seemingly planned lives.
Allan Hawco – best known for playing Jake Doyle in CBC’s hit television show Republic of Doyle – returns to the stage after five years, his last production being The Company Theatre’s Festen. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Hawco’s career is littered with many colourful projects, with Republic of Doyle on top, a show he co-created, writes for and stars in.
Christine Horne is another Canadian artist who requires no introduction. She is known for her very interesting and bold characters, appearing in projects such as Lost Girl, Flashpoint, Republic of Doyle and The Captive. Her theatre credits involve some of the most complex productions, with her most recent appearance being Soulpepper’s Farther West.
Belleville runs April 6th – May 4th at the Berkeley Street Theatre. For tickets, visit HERE
