Every year, Fan Expo Canada plays host to the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear, a component of the four day expo devoted to lovers of the horror genre. Fan Expo 2014 saw the return of the iconic festival, with a prime placement away from the sci-fi and comic activities, giving it its own identify and place within the convention itself.
Located in the North Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Festival of Fear provides an opportunity for vendors, cosplayers, visiting guests and other organizations to mix and mingle with like minded crowds. The area was host to autograph signings with horror genre icons such as Robert Englund, Julian Richings and Heather Langenkamp. It was often frequented by folks such as Ted Raimi and Michael Rooker, and also played host to live activities such as body painting, tattooing and make-up design.
This year, we put a spotlight on the horror genre within the massive expo. While it has always attracted crowds every year, it never got the prominent spotlight as it got this year. Take a look at our gallery below highlighting moments within the Festival of Fear.

Hey! Just a head’s up that at least one of those artists were actually in Artist Alley in the south building. Little known fact: there is a solid row of Horror artists each year in Artist Alley (starting around table A62). We’ve informally started referring to it as The Dead End since it’s way back in the corner, as far away from the hugely popular & spooktacular Festival of Fear as you can get. Just didn’t want folks to think there isn’t horror to be found in the opposite building 😉
Thanks for pointing this out to us! We actually want to give equal spotlight to all the genres, and now that we know this, we’ll be there next year! It’s pretty awesome that you call it The Dead End haha. Its…perfect!
