Tribeca 2014: Chris Messina chats about ‘Alex of Venice’


 

We sit down with actor-turned-director Chris Messina and chat about his directorial debut Alex of Venice, celebrating its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.

The film follows Alex (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a workaholic attorney who spends much of her time working and nothing else. When her husband George (Chris Messina) suddenly leaves, she finds herself in a position where she must balance work and the things she neglected. The film follows Alex on a path of self-understanding, where she must deal with life’s issues while keeping together her family and her relationships.

Chris Messina is a well established film, television and stage actor. Over the years, he has been involved with a number of notable projects, including Vicky Christina Barcelona, Argo, Julie & Julia and Ruby Sparks. On the television side of things, he is best known for his roles on Damages, The Mindy Project and The Newsroom. Alex of Venice marks Messina’s directorial debut.
