Star Wars and Star Trek maybe immediate responses to anyone discussing sci-fi, but another show that has earned its place in those ranks is Stargate SG-1, a Canadian-American production that rocked television for ten whole years and had two movies as well. After a long gap, Christopher Judge – who played the Jaffa warrior Teal’c on the show -revisited Toronto to attend the 2015 Toronto ComiCon. We had a chance to chat with him about the show, it’s impact long after it wrapped, and getting a chance to meet fans in convention settings.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Judge immersed himself in acting from a very young age. He pursued drama in highschool, and later went to attend the Howard Fine Studio in his hometown after a stint at the University of Oregon, where he continued his passion for football. His early roles ranged from MacGyver to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, finding himself collaborating with his future Stargate co-stars like Richard Dean Anderson. One of his largest roles was of course Teal’c in Stargate SG-1, which came in 1997. Beyond Stargate, Judge has appeared in various other productions such as The Mentalist, Andromeda and The Dark Knight Rises. While acting has been his primary focus, Judge has also dabbled in writing and voice work.
